The purpose of this committee is to plan fund raising events for the purpose of supporting and honoring our Line Grand Officer in the next two years.
This committee is now active to support the Associate Grand Patron Trevor Sproul from Delta Chapter #539. The District 13 Committee takes an active part in planning receptions at Grand Chapter; they aide the Grand Line Officer's home chapter at their request; they provide financial assistance for teas on inspection or visitation day if needed; and they approve and distrubute funds as needed to assist with the expenditures in supporting and honoring the Line Grand Officer.
The District 13 Committee would like to thank you for your donations and support for the Garage Sale.
We have many exciting things planned in the coming months and would like to take this opportunity to share some of them with you at this time.
Lucy and Ethel’s Big Escape
Join the District 13 Committee on their next fundraising event on Sunday, July 25, 2010, for a day outing to Jamestown, New York, the hometown of Lucille Ball where we will visit the Lucy and Desi Museum and have lunch aboard the “Summer Wind” on a 2 hour narrated cruise. The lower level in enclosed and temperature controlled and the top level is open air.
We will also stop at the Valvo Candy Factory for a hand dipped ice cream sucker. The cost of this lovely day is $120. To reserve your seat contact Mary Bingham at (330) 426-2655 or Lora Givler at (330) 412-1598 as soon as possible to reserve your seat on the bus. We promise you will have a “Ball.” We will have pick ups at the North Canton Wal-Mart on the Strip and Salem Wal-Mart at 8:00 AM and 9:00AM. These times will be confirmed before the departure date.
August 29, 2010: District 13 Committee’s Festival of Tables at the Canton Woman’s Club. We are asking that each Chapter consider sponsoring a table for this event. A table sponsorship entails selecting a theme for your table, creating a table scape, providing a table favor for each guest, and selling the 8 tickets for the table. The Canton Woman’s Club will provide tablecloths, china, silverware, and glassware. The dinner will be a chicken puff bundle, glazed carrots, salad, and desert. The cost of each ticket is $20.00. The doors will open at 4:00 PM for table viewing and dinner will be served at 4:30 PM. The table host or hostess will be permitted to begin set up at 2:00 PM. This is on a Sunday afternoon. If you are willing to be a table host or hostess please contact Lora Givler so she can reserve your table for you and provide more details.
October 24, 2010: An Italian Affair: This is also a Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM. We will have a Caesar salad, garlic toast, spaghetti and meatballs, and desert after which we will be entertainer by a Sinatra style singer. The cost of this event is $25.00. Committee members will have tickets at a later date.
November / December: Date and place to be determined. A bus trip to see a Christmas light display. It will not be Ogelbay, as we did that last year. More information to follow as it becomes available.
2011: Date and location to be determined: Trevor’s All Stars Dinner Show: Yes, you guessed it…the Stars from District 13 will be the entertainment for this event. So start practicing so you can get your 2-3 minute performance on the program agenda. That means you Mrs. Hughes! If you are interested, please contact Lora Givler once the date is set.
